Brawner Insurance has been family-owned and operated since 1992. We started with a simple idea — that insurance should be personal, not transactional. Three decades later, that hasn't changed.

Now in our second generation, we serve families, farmers, and businesses across Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Illinois. We're independent — which means we work with 50+ carriers to find what actually fits you, not what's best for us.

Jared Brawner

President

Jared is the second-generation owner and President of Brawner Insurance. He is committed to helping clients find the right coverage for their needs and providing the best possible service while continuing his father's legacy. Jared is a trusted community member involved in several local charities and organizations. He is married and has four children.

Jacob Brawner

Director of Operations

Jacob spent 10 years as a teacher before joining the family business full-time in 2024. That teaching instinct stuck — he's the guy who'll explain your policy so it actually makes sense. Licensed in commercial, personal, and farm. Coaches youth sports, bleeds Mizzou black and gold, and has two girls — Rylan and Korie.

Bonita Schmitz

Sr. Sales Advisor — Personal & Medicare

Bonita's been with Brawner for 14 years — she knows the business inside out. Property, casualty, life, Medicare — if you call the Kirksville office, there's a good chance she's the one helping you. Off the clock, she's either reading, traveling, or with her family.

Monica Mayfield Zahn

Sr. Advocate — Crop Division

Monica lives and breathes crop insurance. She came to Brawner because of her customers — and they followed because they trust her. She's the kind of agent who picks up at 9pm during planting season. Relaxes at Baring Lake when she gets the chance, and her daughter runs a local bakery.

Jake Bunker

Sales Advisor — Personal & Commercial P&C

If you're in Northeast Missouri or Southeast Iowa, Jake's your guy. Based out of the Kahoka office with 12 years in finance and sales under his belt. He's straightforward, responsive, and actually enjoys talking insurance. When he's off the clock — golf, NFL, and family time.

Brittany Kelsey

Sales Advisor — Crop & Livestock

Brittany's spent over a decade working with Missouri farmers — she gets ag because she lives it. Handles LRP, LGM, Multi-Peril, and PRF for some of the area's top producers. Runs her own cow-calf operation, shows livestock, and spends every weekend at her three boys' games.

Caitlin Howe

Sales Advisor — Personal P&C

Caitlin's the newest addition to the Kirksville office — and she's already making an impact. Auto, home, life — she takes the time to understand what each family actually needs. When she's not working, she's outdoors with her husband Daniel and their four kids — hunting, fishing, and never missing a game.
