Federally subsidized crop insurance that protects your harvest from yield losses caused by natural disasters, weather events, and price declines. Available across Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Illinois.
Farming is one of the most weather-dependent businesses in the world. A single drought, flood, hailstorm, or early freeze can wipe out an entire season of work and income. Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) is a federally backed program administered by the USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) that protects farmers from these unavoidable losses.
Unlike private insurance, MPCI premiums are heavily subsidized by the federal government, covering 50% to 75% of your premium cost depending on the coverage level you choose. Brawner Insurance helps farmers across Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Illinois select the right MPCI plan for their operation, their crops, and their risk tolerance.
Whether you grow corn, soybeans, wheat, or specialty crops, MPCI is the foundation of every smart farm risk management plan. We help you build it right.

MPCI provides broad protection against the risks farmers face every season. Here are the key coverages included.
Guarantees a percentage of your historical yield. If actual production falls below the guarantee due to natural causes, you receive an indemnity based on the difference.
The most popular MPCI plan. Protects against both yield loss and price declines. If your revenue falls below the guaranteed level, you receive a payment covering the shortfall.
If weather conditions prevent you from planting your insured crop by the final planting date, MPCI pays a percentage of your guarantee even though no crop was planted.
If your initial crop stand is destroyed and you need to replant, MPCI provides a replant payment to help cover the additional cost of seed, fuel, and labor.
If your harvested crop suffers quality damage (low test weight, high moisture, mycotoxins), your production is adjusted downward, potentially increasing your indemnity payment.
We analyze your APH, county data, and risk profile to recommend the right MPCI coverage level.

Yield Protection (YP) only covers yield losses from natural causes. Revenue Protection (RP) covers both yield losses and price declines, making it the more comprehensive and popular option. RP uses the higher of the projected price or harvest price to calculate your guarantee, giving you upside price protection.
For spring-planted crops like corn and soybeans in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Illinois, the sales closing date is typically March 15. For fall-seeded crops like winter wheat, the deadline is usually September 30. Contact us early to make sure you do not miss your window.
MPCI premiums are heavily subsidized by the federal government. At the 75% coverage level, the government pays about 55% of the premium. At lower coverage levels, the subsidy is even higher. Your actual cost depends on your crop, county, coverage level, and your Actual Production History (APH). We can run a free estimate for your specific operation.
APH is the average of your proven crop yields over the past 4 to 10 years. It determines your yield guarantee under MPCI. Higher APH means a higher guarantee. If you are a new farmer or lack production records, transitional yields (T-yields) set by RMA are used as a starting point.
Yes. Both landowner-operators and tenant farmers can purchase MPCI. The person who has the insurable interest in the crop (the one who would suffer the financial loss) is the one who should carry the policy. If you rent land and plant the crop, you can insure it under your own MPCI policy.
